1) Soak 2 cups of boiled rice of plump variety along with 2 cups of boiled rice of longer variety in sufficient water. Ensure that atleast 5 hours are allowed to let the rice soak in
2) About the 4th hour of the rice soaking take 2 cups of urad dal along with methi seeds (less than a handful) and soak it in water for about an hour
3) In the 5th hour both the rice and dal should have soaked in well seperately and are ready to be grinded. Now grind the soaked rice in a grinder or mixie till a batter is formed which is smooth and flowing. Do the same for the urad dal now.
4) Now add the urad dal paste into the main batter and steadily mix both (the hand can be preferred, since it is said that the quality of batter depends on which hand mixes the urad dal with the batter)
