Recipe #10: Masala Dose Chutney
This chutney (orange colour) is used for adding within the masala dose along with or without potata puttu.
Ingredients (for 10-15 dosas):
1) 1/2 medium sized coconut cut into smaller pieces
2) 3/4th cup (small) of chutney kadale (fried gram)
3) Small ball of tamarind
4) Dried red chillies of about 4-5 numbers
5) Rock salt
6) Asafoetida
Preparation:
1) Take the smallest mixie jar and first add the chillies, salt, a pinch of asafoetida, tamarind and a little bit of water. Run it. (Note: the chillies are added first else they may not be churned fully if added later)
2) Then add the coconut pieces and very little water.
3) Finally add the chutney kadale and required amounts of little water so that the mixie churns the mixture into a nice paste. Make sure to not add too much water. The chutney should be such that it can be smeared onto the dosa easily.
